Telehealth in regulated provinces
In Canada, psychotherapy is regulated at a provincial level, but not all provinces have regulation. Regulated provinces include New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.
Practitioners who are registered with a provincial regulatory body are permitted to work online with patients in both regulated and unregulated jurisdictions with some caveats.
Practitioners who do not belong to a regulatory body may require additional steps before working with patients in locations where regulations exist.
