CertificationI am a committed life-long student in the field of psychotherapy. I have studied and practised various frameworks over the course of my career, including Jungian and analytically based psychotherapies, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt therapy, hypnosis and mindfulness-based practices. I am working on my certification in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which incorporates attachment theory and current neurobiological research into psychotherapy practice. These therapeutic frameworks inform my practice, enabling me to implement approaches that are compatible with each individual or couple.

I have been practising as a psychotherapist for more than 30 years, working with people who seek relief from depression, anxiety and relationship problems. People come to me because they have encountered challenges in their life situations and are seeking a non-judgmental environment in which to understand next steps. I endeavour to explore and clarify the issues with them to help them meet their goals and find peace and restoration.
My practice covers a spectrum of ages and issues, including domestic abuse, childhood sexual abuse and addictive processes. I have also worked with people who are trying to cope with grief and loss. My clients have included couples dealing with complications arising from post-partum adjustments, young people having difficulties with "launching" in challenging economic times and new Canadians struggling with cultural adaptation.
I also work with many couples, including LGBT. Together, our aim is often to restore the satisfaction of partnership or relationship. Alternatively, some couples reach an understanding that separation is the best course of action, in which case we work together at finding the best solutions for all involved.
I view myself as a "field soldier" whose job it is to assist people with issues related to their mental health. My philosophy comes from a deep respect that within each individual resides the strength and wisdom to know how to heal. Everyone has an innate sense of what they need to fulfill their lives. I see my role as one of support on this journey.
