  • Theoretical Background

    Beverley obtained her MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, her BA in Psychology from the University of Waterloo and her Early Childhood Education Diploma from Algonquin College in Ottawa. Beverley’s clinical placement was at a mental health centre for children and families. She provided Jungian based Sandplay Therapy and Person Centered Therapy for children with severe emotional and behavioural issues who attended a treatment classroom, as well as family therapy. Her final paper outlined the success of Sandplay Therapy with a child diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder. She has had experience counselling adults for family of origin issues with yoga based body work, mindfulness and meditation since 1999 and Sandplay Therapy for children and adults since 2009. In 2015 she added a technique called Traumatic Incident Reduction, for resolving traumatic or difficult events, PTSD, bereavement, relationship and career issues. She has received contracts and funding from Options Youth a therapeutic foster care agency, and Victim Services. She has training and experience in suicide intervention and other crisis situations. She has knowledge of family systems, couples therapy and parenting. She has also led social skills groups for children.
