At the heart of psychotherapy is the individual’s pursuit of freedom. As life moves on, we begin to see that we are stuck in certain ways. We are not as free as we’d like to be. Relationships follow tedious patterns, and we keep ending up in the same place. Perhaps work is unrewarding. Maybe we are in a rut and can’t seem to get out. We keep trying, but that seems to be our lot in life.

By the same token, other people seem to be different. This seems to be drastically unfair! We know where we’d like to be in life, or how it “should” feel, but seem to lack the ability to get there.

How can talking help?

The balance of your genetic makeup, alongside your experience in life has made you who you are. You may have spoken with friends or family about your life, but you’ll find the therapeutic conversation somewhat different.

Therapy asks that you are as truthful as possible. This is often harder than it sounds! We will talk about you, your past experience of life, your beliefs or assumptions about the world and yourself.

In your own time, this gradually allows you to accept things, come to terms with things, to challenge your own assumptions, and to gain different perspectives about the world and yourself.

I offer a non-prescriptive, safe place to explore yourself, your history and your world. Some things come to light fast, others take time and considerable work. Either way, I’m here to help.

My office is clean and quiet, very close to the subway, and offers elevator access.

I work with all kinds of people, and look forward to meeting with you should you choose to get in touch.
