I studied Relational Psychotherapy at the Toronto Institute of Relational Psychotherapy. The relational modality works well with individuals and couples. Relational psychotherapy seeks to understand and alleviate any suffering resulting from past or current relationships. It also works towards the goal of compassionate self-understanding and mutual understanding that can lead to healthier, more fulfilling relationships in general.

In addition to my TIRP training, I have experience in trauma recovery (including male and female survivors of childhood sexual abuse and assault).

I know that healing from life's difficult challenges can be unbelievably frightening and difficult; sometimes it's the most difficult thing there is to do. But I also know that it can be done, and on the other side of it is a better, more joyful life; the life you deserve. I would be honoured to be with you on your healing journey.

My main goal in the therapeutic relationship is to understand how things are for you to the best of my ability. This often involves more than me just listening. Sometimes I ask a lot of questions in order to clarify or further understand what's going on for you. I also sometimes offer my musings as a springboard for discussion. By considering my musing, and telling me how much, or how little, it resonates with your perspective, we can increase understanding of your story. In the process of helping me understand how things are for you, what usually happens is that things start to make more sense to you too; we make sense of it together. With deeper understanding comes more clarity in making life choices, and self understanding also leads to self empathy. In addition, feelings of depression and anxiety are often lessened.

I also believe that in a healthy therapeutic relationship it is the client, not the therapist who sets the pace of the work we do together. It is you who decides what to share with me and when it is the right time to share it.

I am LGBTQ friendly.
