Society often tells us we have to be strong individuals. It tells us we have to be isolated islands coping with our lives and problems alone. But, I will be different.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
I am a Relational Psychotherapist. As a Relational Psychotherapist I understand that every human being can’t go through life alone. We all grow, develop and are nurtured in relationships: Relationships with parents, siblings, family, friends, teachers, spouses and life-mates. When we experience hard times and hard emotions, we need those relationships to help us get through them. But, sometimes, they may not be enough. Sometimes we may need a psychotherapist.
As a Relational Psychotherapist practicing in Toronto, I believe whole heartedly that in order to get through life and to live life to its fullest, we need to be able to deeply talk with someone. If we are going to heal our wounds, we need to be listened to and to feel heard. We may feel we want to someone to tell us what to do and how to fix our problems, but really, we need to feel understood. Understood from our own perspective. Understood without judgement.
From self-understanding comes clarity and self-respect, anxiety and stress can become manageable, and we don’t feel so alone in feeling our grief or despair. To achieve this, we need to feel as though someone is on our side, that someone is interested, will stick with us through the hard times and not “go away”. We need to know that we matter and that we are not alone.
As a Relational Psychotherapist, I will listen to you attentively, compassionately and empathically as you tell your story.
Together, you and I, will work to help you to experience greater clarity. Clarity and freedom: Clarity in your life choices and relationships. Freedom so you don’t feel so locked into troubling patterns or behaviours, so you don’t just “react” impulsively to situations or people’s words, and so you won’t feel as overwhelmed by emotions or anxiety. I will strive to help you be more reflective and mindful, so that that the choices you make in life will be authentic to you — so you can experience greater freedom.
