Me and My Work

I have always had a healthy curiosity and interest in the human condition and its diverse aspects. I care about life, about people, about our planet. I have always searched for ways to heal myself in body, mind and soul and to free myself from suffering and from fear, from their many forms and contexts. My main interest has been in applied knowledge and health sciences.

I love ideas and sharing them and I also love efficiency and practicality - a more useful and helpful approach to living life: do what it takes to make things work. This being said, there are moments in life when one can feel so down, so low that just to make it to the next day may feel like a very long journey. My message to you is simple and known, yet it cannot be repeated too often: "As long as there is life, there is hope. Never, never give up!” Also, find your own support system, your own network of supportive family, friends and the therapeutic process that works for you. You don’t have to be alone, or to do it alone.

The holistic approach to health makes a lot of sense to me: We are spirits (intelligent life), who have bodies. Spirit has mind with thoughts and emotions, it has choices to make and changes to go through and it was born on this planet with an intrinsic knowing that, after a number of years, it will also go through the passage of death. At the same time, we are social beings who need to belong, to create, to share, to relate to and communicate, to understand and be understood, to love and be loved. We need all these aspects of our being to be functional and in some sort of harmony, unique to each person, so that we can thrive and we are able to feel an overall sense of well-being.

My personal process on the journey of reclaiming health and freedom was first to start learning about the body and its energies through studying Anatomy and Physiology, Reflexology and Reiki. Based on long-term experience and practice, I believe Reflexology works best for eliminating stress from the body-mind system, as it brings an almost immediate sense of peace and relief, or even deep restful sleep. Reiki also empowers a person to self-heal, grounding and centering the energies, as it attunes you to a deeper sense of self, to well-being and harmony.

Another deep human need in the quest to self-awareness is to understand how the mind functions in relation to human perception and behavior. Personally, at this level, I work with Hypnosis and NLP. They go well together. Repetitive actions and repetitive language create specific behaviors and specific beliefs/thought patterns/organizing principles. We learn certain behaviors through thoughts, language and actions. Through a set of techniques and through increased awareness, also through working with the power of the conscious, subconscious and superconscious mind, Hypnosis and NLP facilitate the process of un-learning destructive, unnecessary or limiting beliefs, behaviors and thought patterns that prevent us from living a full life.

To better comprehend the intricacies and vastness of human soul and emotion, I have focused my attention on Psychotherapy. The Relational Approach to Psychotherapy makes the most sense to me, as I view connection and the capacity to connect to another, as well as to those meaningful parts in ourselves, at the core of our existence. Everything is related, everything is interconnected. When our emotions are overwhelming, frazzled, when we are cut off from our emotions, when we are scared, anxious, fearful, depressed, when nothing works or little makes sense, when we live with trauma, when we cannot deal with feelings of loss or abandonment, when we cannot cope with change, or with making choices and decisions, when our sense of well-being and identity feels threatened, then these are all signs that a disruption, or a rupture, a disconnection or a series of disconnections may have formed in the internal makeup of our being. I believe Psychotherapy is one of the best approaches to suture, to reconstruct, to reconnect these parts in ourselves and to help us create new, fulfilling meaning in our lives. As a Psychotherapist, I work both with individuals and with couples. As your Psychotherapist, I am your ally and I support you in your process of making sense of what is happening to you. I listen to you and to your story in a respectful, non-judgmental and compassionate way. I am here for you.

Having lived in three very different countries, I have developed a deep understanding and sensibility for people from all walks of life, for people faced with difficult changes or life transitions, for people dealing with loss and grief, for highly sensitive persons, for people feeling "in between", and people who go through immigration processes.

I have been doing meditation since 1995 and this is something I am passionate about and I bring to my sessions in short, peaceful, meditative and guided visualizations.

My artistic outlet is writing poetry. I want to capture the moment, in its simplicity, complexity, or intensity. I want to capture my thoughts, my feelings. And so, I write a poem.

I am married and we live in Toronto, in the neighborhood of High Park and Lake Ontario. True to its Wyandot (Huron) meaning, the “lake of shining waters” never ceases to amaze me in my walks.
