I bring a unique outlook to my clients. Having spent the first 25 years of my career as a Bay Street banker with Canada's largest international bank, I have observed transformations of the human spirit while witnessing many changing dynamics...characteristics that can often result in creating exhausting challenges.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (Reg # 1034).
I am a graduate of Toronto's renowned Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP), having successfully completed their seven-year academic and clinical requirements. I have been practicing for the last 15 years.
I have completed the Externship & Core Skills Advanced Training Programs from the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT). I have served on the Board of the Psychotherapy Referral Service (PRS) as its Secretary, Treasurer and President.
My years of training and clinical practice have equipped me with the understanding to offer a dependable therapy practice. I have been fascinated for more than 40 years by the value of a therapeutic approach to life and have personally experienced the benefits of learning through many individual and group sessions. So I always look forward to working with individuals and couples to help them discover their inner strengths as they learn to express more of who they are in the world.
I think of myself as a "soulsmith" … facilitating the awakening of an individual's and couples' natural potential for unique personal and relational experiences … a true journey of change achieved through a relationship of trust.
I start with the belief that we should work towards a society where professional therapy is not required, where we can be each other's support. But this is difficult to achieve, so I work on providing my clients with the best understanding I can, helping define their particular journey to wellness.
Psychotherapy focuses on healing. I like to think of a psychotherapist as the guide on a journey to the inner mind where dynamic forces, forgotten memories and old patterns of behaviour often impact our way of being. Together, client and therapist embrace this very personal journey of self-discovery. The intention of psychotherapy is re-awakening of the soul to the riches of life, fostering a deeper connection to ourselves and others.
My interests are varied, including photography, music, poetry, travel and the use of improvisation in unblocking creativity. I also get pleasure enjoying "the funnier side of life" in relaxing moments with my friends and family. As a psychotherapist with a personal experience with prostate cancer, I have a unique perspective and hopefully a helpful one, on both the practical and emotional issues men must grapple with as they face this potentially life-changing diagnosis and treatment.
I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation.
