The Psychotherapy of Music Therapy

Ontario Music Therapy Academy presents The Psychotherapy of Music Therapy, in Hamilton.

An overview of psychotherapy approaches and techniques will be discussed with practical examples. The workshop will provide music tools to enhance skills in verbal psychotherapy and verbal skills to enhance skills in music therapy. Participants do not need to be musicians to implement the music-based tools, and clients do not need a background in music.

Learning Objectives:
1. To be knowledgeable about basic concepts related to Freud and Jung
2. To be able to implement psychotherapy principles in music based interventions.
3. To be able to make connections between the unconscious mind as it relates to verbal techniques and music therapy interventions.
